History
Baci Italian Ristorante took over the old St. Mary's Parish building approximately six years ago. Three other restaurants attempted to take stake at this prime location in downtown Plainfield, IL but were unable to maintain operations.
St. Mary's Immaculate Parish's official website can be found by clicking here.
The old bell that was in the original building at 407 W Lockport now resides at the new parish location. If you enter the main school entrance you can see it proudly displayed in the front lobby.
Stain glass from the old building has been restored and preserved to the new parish at several locations. Keep your eye out for some of it. Obviously, you can visit our Restaurant. Most of the magnificent stain glass is still in excellent condition and in place all over the building.
Many people have questioned why we have a restaurant in a church. It's a valid question. Mainly because we saw the true architectural and cultural value of this historical building and wanted to preserve it in the area we call home, Plainfield. The building was vacant at the time of occupation, we fear if someone didn't build a business inside, the cost of maintaining such a building would be economically unfeasible. Although if there is anyone out there that wants to help fund this type of project we'd be more than happy to find another location. Until that happens, we call this home and we welcome your business to help us preserve this treasured landmark.
